Two Months Ago

If you want any proof just how much things can change in two months, just talk to me. I can attest to this.

Last March 2, I spent the shortest day in my life. Incidentally, it was my 40th birthday too! I woke up that morning at 6am in a hotel room in San Francisco. Went to mass, had breakfast, checked out the hotel, went to the airport, flew to Japan. In less than 24 hours, the day was done.

March 4, I accepted a new job. This new job is meant to give me more time to spend on building the business idea I have, while having a regular income.

March 15, filed my resignation from the current one.

March 26, I found the place where the first branch of my restaurant business can be located.

March 28, I filed the letter of Intention required to apply to be considered for the place.

March 29, I received a phone call arranging to meet the owner of the building the following day. So I went and was advised that they like me and that I get priority over the place. Afterwards, I was briefed regarding the requirements to reserve the place. Later that day, I called my cousin who will be joining me in the venture.

March 31, paid the reservation fee. I have two weeks to pay for the deposit and advance rentals for the place. The next day, April 1, I went to SEC to reserve the corporate name. On the same day, met with possible contractors for the building of the first ever branch of the restaurant.

April 2, a Saturday, the first product test was conducted. Then, April 3, the family announcement was made. Brought my mom to the site.

April 7, briefed the Interior Designer, then met a 3rd possible contractor two days later. The following week, met with the 4th possible contractor. Then the next day, on April 19, conducted the 2nd product test.

Then it was Holy Week. I spent the time manually typing the incorporating papers to be filed with SEC.

In the background, I'm also working on the logo for the restaurant with my graphic designer friend. On April 25, we met so we can discuss specific directions on how to revise the studies. Then April 27, 3rd product test happened till early afternoon and then, at 5pm, I met with the 4th contractor to give further directions and so he can revise his bid (P1.1M, for Pete's sake!)

April 28 is the day I inquired about the opening of a Capital Stock account at the back near the branch. Three days later, May 1, the incorporating papers are signed by my sisters.

Today, May 2, I started the day with the actual opening of the account, and having the incorporation papers notarized. Then it's time for my first day at my work.

And since this is my first day, I do not have much to do yet. what better way to spend that forced idle time than to look back at how much things have changed in a space of 61 days?

So there. That's my life for the past two months. The only thing I am kind of sorry is that, this ind of busy-ness tends to rob you of time to abreast your friends with what's happening to you. Too many times, I have wished that my thoughts can reach the people I intend them for, so much like a voice in their heads or a communicator of sorts like those we see in science fiction movies.

My friends, let this then be a sort of an update-apology message from me. You are not far from my thoughts but I go home every night gorgeously tired and mentally-deranged, i mean, drained.
