It will be a week tomorrow since the Papal thing.
And while life has gone on—we all went back to work, the kids went back to school, and my mom’s still recovering from the fever which started the day before the ceremony—I still look back at it once in a while.
Aside from the tears and the laughter, the one other thing I remember is the generosity of certain people.:
Diego, who was very patient with us, understanding that none of us could sing worth a dime, thanks for laughing (loudly) at our jokes and antics, and capturing some of that in the MTV.
Magenta, who didn’t even for one second hesitate to take on the task of being my eyes and ears at the reception, for taking on the tasks that were supposed to be mine—organizing the reception tables, making sure all deliveries came, while I was the Honoree’s daughter in another venue.
Flash & Vangie sold their labor cheaply with just reception food. I know how much of a stretch it was for them, not being familiar with the venue and what needed to be done, and yet, they rose to the occasion. What more, Flash had to share me with the 30 calls I have to take and make daily (mostly to my sisters) to make sure that everything will run smoothly, when I should be working meeting our targets.
Gorgeous Gelli Victor graciously lent her voice and presence to host the reception. I tell you this girl is one of the most beautiful I have met. Her internal beauty is equal to her external one.
My friend and “son” Louie provided the lights and sound through Entertainment Quest. I know that he had to call in some favors of his own to keep the cost to a minimum.
Mimi Cheko and Darna, who let me get really deep into the preparation of this occasion when I should have been submitting jobs to them. I’m ready to do Book Geek, A. Darna, I know you weren’t happy with the copy I wrote but you kept your peace.
My cousins who only needed to hear the word “help”. The David sisters, who greatly helped in both the reception and the church. Erwin, who entertained my friends because i couldn’t.
Tambie and Alex, friends for so many years, who went to lend me support. Tambie especially, who rose to the occasion in so short a notice.
We’ve been getting compliments about the reception, how it was well-organized, the presentations were good, etc. I know it’s been said a million times before, but I really do mean it when I say without these people, those compliments wouldn’t have been forthcoming.
P.S.
At the risk of sounding like some variety show host, I do want to thank Naj Flores who made me look human that day. Naj (I will always insist this is the professional name you use) did my make up that day, and I got so many compliments, I almost believed them.
A common friend has blogged about Naj before. She is just starting out but she is showing so much potential you have to grab her now so that when she's already famous and expensive, you still get her friendly rate. (wink! wink!) check her out: www.najeane.multiply.com.
The official pictures haven't come in so I don't have any pictures posted here. But as soon as I get some, those will definitely be added. So come back one in a while.

You're very welcome girl. Sorry I wasn't able to attend the reception since there was a roomful of screaming 3 year olds that I had to attend to. LOL. Hubby is more than happy to have done your MTV too. Next reception sana kasal mo na. :)
